Feature/Function

Business Justification: (Why? Non-technical business case description. Do not reword Detailed Problem Description from above. What are the benefits to be gained by your company, and the vendor and others?  Quantify: run time, dollars, manpower, etc.   Why should the vendor do this for the customer?)

Some environments do not permit FTP or NFS. Using IND$FILE requires the workstation to initiate transfer, and can take considerable time to transfer groups of files.

Solution: (Optional)(Desired/undesired elements Note: Making a suggestion may limit a vendors ability to deliver a solution)

IND$FILE requires the workstation to initiate the transfer.  the ability to transfer the file in binary and as text.   Text transfers require the file to be translated according to the current codepage settings of the emulator to avoid having to supply options. The ALMCOPY utility supplied with the OS/2 PCOMM accomplished this nicely, but was never given to other platforms -- similar tool desired

Impact: (Optional) (How will your company’s business be affected if a solution is not delivered?)

Have to engineer another solution.
