Justification: (Why? Non-technical
business case description. Do not reword Detailed Problem
Description from above. What are the benefits to be gained by your
company, and the vendor and others?
Quantify: run time, dollars, manpower, etc. Why should the vendor do this for the customer?)
Without this capability, the system cannot
respond automatically to auditing requirements or switch to alternate startup
processing and may expose the business to regulatory or monetary fines.
Solution: (Optional)(Desired/undesired elements Note: Making a suggestion may limit a
vendors ability to deliver a solution)
Provide a new CP command to report the presence
of a ESM. The command should provide a simple form that provides a yes/no
answer for the presence of an active ESM (Q ESM, rc=0 if present and active/rc=28
if not, and provide a more detailed form to determine which ESM,
active/inactive state, and a vendor provided identification string (Q ESM EXT)
Impact: (Optional) (How
will your company’s business be affected if a solution is not delivered?)
We will continue to employ external records at
additional cost and use homebrew alternatives.
