Title: (Paraphrase problem in a single statement)CA-Faver2 abends during backup

Detailed Problem Description: (Description of what you want changed - 400 character entry limit)

When performing Faver2 Vsam backup with EXO option (Faver compatibility), we experience abends randomly when a VSAM file is being updated at the same time.

Priority: (Select one: Urgent - High - Medium - Low) High

Requested Completion Date: (When? Examples: 3 months, 1 year, Next Release) 1 month

Requirement Type: (Select one: Acceptability - Compatibility/Migration - Ease of Use - Feature/Function - Performance - Reliability/Availability/Serviceability - Packaging - Interoperability)

Reliability

Business Justification: (Why? Non-technical business case description. Do not reword Detailed Problem Description from above. What are the benefits to be gained by your company, and the vendor and others?  Quantify: run time, dollars, manpower, etc.   Why should the vendor do this for the customer?)

When any job crashes in a Sarbox audited installation, senior personnel are notified.  This requires documented explanation and justification for the abends.  Admittedly, the backup integrity is corrupted.  Some kind of notification, instead of an abend, to that effect becomes self-explained rather than a PSW and dump listing.

Solution: (Optional)(Desired/undesired elements Note: Making a suggestion may limit a vendors ability to deliver a solution)

Respond with a message instead of abending or provide a means to select severity level for an abend much like is available with SDS's MAXBack.  Perhaps a return code that could be tested for the ESTOP setting, too.

Impact: (Optional) (How will your company’s business be affected if a solution is not delivered?)

The abend gives the appearance that Faver is randomly abending and is unreliable.
