With the upcoming end of support of VSE/ESA 2.7, we will not be able run a supported VSE under a supported VM unless we can run z/VM 5.2 or later.

Business Justification: (Why? Non-technical business case description. Do not reword Detailed Problem Description from above. What are the benefits to be gained by your company, and the vendor and others?  Quantify: run time, dollars, manpower, etc.   Why should the vendor do this for the customer?)

Running z/VM 5.2 (a supported version of z/VM) on our Flex-ES system will allow us to continue to move Linux systems to the mainfraime. This will cause the mainfraime workload to increase and allow IBM to sell us a larger mainfraime.

Solution: (Optional)(Desired/undesired elements Note: Making a suggestion may limit a vendors ability to deliver a solution)

Impact: (Optional) (How will your company’s business be affected if a solution is not delivered?)

If we can not run the newest level of z/VM and z/VSE on our mainfraime then it will be preceived as not stragitic. Linux systems will then be installed only on Dell servers and the workload will be moved in that direction. We will then replace the mainfraime with Dell servers.
