Title: (Paraphrase problem in a
single statement)Fix confusing console
message ARI0225E
Detailed
Problem Description: (Description of what you want changed - 400 character entry limit)
If you attempt to issue a
FORCE console command without a prior SHOW command, you get the message,
"System operator must issue SHOW ACTIVE, SHOW CONNECT or SHOW SYSTEM prior
to FORCE command". However, SHOW ACTIVE does not satisfy the request if
you issued a FORCE RMTUSER command. The FORCE RMTUSER command is ignored and
you get the same ARI0225E message again.

Justification: (Why? Non-technical
business case description. Do not reword Detailed Problem
Description from above. What are the benefits to be gained by your
company, and the vendor and others?
Quantify: run time, dollars, manpower, etc. Why should the vendor do this for the customer?)
When this scenario is encountered, it is very,
very confusing. On 3/23/04 I opened PMR 52345-499 thinking this was a bug
because I had not seen it before. Even DB2 support was confused by it at first,
but, after research, they claim it has been this way since 6.1 and do not
consider it a bug. They will not change it without a requirement.
Solution: (Optional)(Desired/undesired elements Note: Making a suggestion may limit a
vendors ability to deliver a solution)
Provide separate messages as responses to FORCE
and FORCE RMTUSER. The ARI0225E message cannot satisfy both situations, since
SHOW ACTIVE does not satisfy the requirements before a FORCE RMTUSER command
will succeed.
Impact: (Optional) (How
will your company’s business be affected if a solution is not delivered?)
Less confusion in the work place and cleaner
operations. Not a good idea to try and use the same message for two different
(but similar) situations.
