Date: 4/17/2003                                            Requirement #:  WAVV200315

Product Name:           Dynam         Product Release# (or state “current”): 7.0

Vendor Name:           Computer Associates

Title: (Paraphrase problem in a single statement)CA-Dynam needs to offer a way to convert a 7.0 catalog back to 6.0.

Detailed Problem Description: (Description of what you want changed - 400 character entry limit)

We want to install Dynam/T 7.0, but if problems are found with the product there is no way to back out the 7.0-format catalog to 6.0 level.

Priority: (Select one: Urgent - High - Medium - Low) Urgent

Requested Completion Date: (When? Examples: 3 months, 1 year, Next Release) 3 months

Requirement Type: (Select one: Acceptability - Compatibility/Migration - Ease of Use - Feature/Function - Performance - Reliability/Availability/Serviceability - Packaging - Interoperability)

Migration

Business Justification: (Why? Non-technical business case description. Do not reword Detailed Problem Description from above. What are the benefits to be gained by your company, and the vendor and others?  Quantify: run time, dollars, manpower, etc.   Why should the vendor do this for the customer?)

Prevent the disaster which could occur if a problem is found with Dynam 7.0 after conversion and enough catalog changes were made in the interim during the normal course of production it would be impossible to fall back to Dynam 6.0.

Solution: (Optional)(Desired/undesired elements Note: Making a suggestion may limit a vendors ability to deliver a solution)

CA must provide some kind of utility that can read a Dynam 7.0 catalog and reformat it to 6.0 catalog.

Impact: (Optional) (How will your company’s business be affected if a solution is not delivered?)

Because of the lack of backward transportation from Dynam 7.0 to 6.0, we are considering not upgrading to the new release, which means we would be unable to use the new functions in 7.0.
