The IPL scripts now provided (specifically by Cornerstone) do not check to see if the environment is clear for initiating the instance. It should be written to check for a running system, terminal sessions, or other residual artifacts, and give the operator a choice to either terminate the startup or shut down and clean up before restarting. This is an operational problem, but could be fixed.
