WAVV Requirement Form

Date: 4/21/2003                                            Requirement #:  WAVV200316

Product Name:           VSE/ESA JCL      Product Release# (or state “current”): current

Vendor Name:           IBM

Title: (Paraphrase problem in a single statement)parm longer than 100 chars

Detailed Problem Description: (Description of what you want changed - 400 character entry limit)

Allow the PARM= to be more than 100 characters. With LIBR and REXX we are building up parameter strings that need to be longer. The three parm statements are insufficient, because often these parameters are built with symbolic parameters and keep each under 100 bytes is a limitation that can byte you in the future

Priority: (Select one: Urgent - High - Medium - Low) medium

Requested Completion Date: (When? Examples: 3 months, 1 year, Next Release) when possible

Requirement Type: (Select one: Acceptability - Compatibility/Migration - Ease of Use - Feature/Function - Performance - Reliability/Availability/Serviceability - Packaging - Interoperability)

ease of use/functionality

Business Justification: (Why? Non-technical business case description. Do not reword Detailed Problem Description from above. What are the benefits to be gained by your company, and the vendor and others?  Quantify: run time, dollars, manpower, etc.   Why should the vendor do this for the customer?)

This enhancement would make the program more usable, enable functions previously not possible and save manpower. The present limitations prevent us from using the system for some functions or require time consuming and complex workarounds. This would enable broader use and simpler applications.

Solution: (Optional)(Desired/undesired elements Note: Making a suggestion may limit a vendors ability to deliver a solution)

If lengthening the parm field would cause compatibility problems, consider a new keyword, such as LPARM

Impact: (Optional) (How will your company’s business be affected if a solution is not delivered?)

Our systems would still be compex and difficult to understand
