Date: 4/11/2003                                            Requirement #:  WAVV200313

Product Name:           IXFP/SnapShot     Product Release# (or state “current”): 6.5.0

Vendor Name:           IBM

Title: (Paraphrase problem in a single statement)IXFP needs the capability to Snap individual VSAM files.

Detailed Problem Description: (Description of what you want changed - 400 character entry limit)

IXFP now only allows Snapping entire VSAM catalogs and their volumes. If a job abends and we need to restart a job sequence, there is no way to Snap back just the affected file(s) - we have to Snap either all volumes (in the other direction) or run an IDCAMS BACKUP/RESTORE from the target to get just the files we need. And depending on the amount of data involved, that conceivably could take hours

Priority: (Select one: Urgent - High - Medium - Low) High

Requested Completion Date: (When? Examples: 3 months, 1 year, Next Release) 6 months

Requirement Type: (Select one: Acceptability - Compatibility/Migration - Ease of Use - Feature/Function - Performance - Reliability/Availability/Serviceability - Packaging - Interoperability)

Availability

Business Justification: (Why? Non-technical business case description. Do not reword Detailed Problem Description from above. What are the benefits to be gained by your company, and the vendor and others?  Quantify: run time, dollars, manpower, etc.   Why should the vendor do this for the customer?)

Reruns are expensive and extend the hours that our on-line systems are down.

Solution: (Optional)(Desired/undesired elements Note: Making a suggestion may limit a vendors ability to deliver a solution)

Expand the function of IXFP and VSAM to handle individual VSAM files.

Impact: (Optional) (How will your company’s business be affected if a solution is not delivered?)
