Vendor Name:     IBM

Title: (Paraphrase problem in a single statement)DSF needs to include CUU and/or VOLID in messages

Detailed Problem Description: (Description of what you want changed - 400 character entry limit)

DSF messages ICK001D and ICK019D need to have the device CUU and/or VOLID included as part of the text.  Knowing the CUU is particularly useful if you are initializing many DASD volumes in a single job and inadvertently include a volume that has good data on it. These messages don't tell on you the device it has found unexpired or VSAM files on and it's possible to delete live data.

Priority: (Select one: Urgent - High - Medium - Low) High

Requested Completion Date: (When? Examples: 3 months, 1 year, Next Release) By PTF asap

Requirement Type: (Select one: Acceptability - Compatibility/Migration - Ease of Use - Feature/Function - Performance - Reliability/Availability/Serviceability - Packaging - Interoperability)

Ease of use

Business Justification: (Why? Non-technical business case description. Do not reword Detailed Problem Description from above. What are the benefits to be gained by your company, and the vendor and others?  Quantify: run time, dollars, manpower, etc.   Why should the vendor do this for the customer?)

Those messages occur when a DASD volume is about to be re-initialized, but if you respond incorrectly severe harm can be done to the system.

Solution: (Optional)(Desired/undesired elements Note: Making a suggestion may limit a vendors ability to deliver a solution)

Add the CUU and/or VOLID to the messages.

Impact: (Optional) (How will your company’s business be affected if a solution is not delivered?)

It's possible to erase valuable company data.
