Justification: (Why? Non-technical
business case description. Do not reword Detailed Problem
Description from above. What are the benefits to be gained by your
company, and the vendor and others? Quantify:
run time, dollars, manpower, etc. Why
should the vendor do this for the customer?)
DB2/VSE/VM provides no way to stop access to a
database via TCP/IP WITHOUT shutting down the dB. There are times when it is
necessary to perform special batch maintenance that requires blocking remote
access to the database for a period of time. This would provide maximum
availability of the dB for batch access without the need to terminate the dB.
Solution: (Optional)(Desired/undesired elements Note: Making a suggestion may limit a
vendors ability to deliver a solution)
Provide a command that will shut off TCP/IP
access to the database, the converse of the "START TCPIP TCPPORT"
command.
Impact: (Optional) (How
will your company’s business be affected if a solution is not delivered?)
Would provide smooth transitions from "all
access" to "batch only" and back to "all access" at
various times of the day WITHOUT the need to terminate the database.
