Title: (Paraphrase problem in a
single statement)Extend VSAM Redirection to
support VSAM access to CICS owned files
Detailed
Problem Description: (Description of what you want changed - 400 character entry limit)
Announced redirector and
connector support permits access to VSAM resources in a VSE system from other
systems (e.g. workstation client processes) and for VSE VSAM access to
resources in other systems (e.g. remote data bases). Access to CICS files from batch requires application change to
exploit CICS EXCI interfaces.

Justification: (Why? Non-technical
business case description. Do not reword Detailed Problem
Description from above. What are the benefits to be gained by your
company, and the vendor and others?
Quantify: run time, dollars, manpower, etc. Why should the vendor do this for the customer?)
Many batch processes need some access to files
owned and in use by on-line CICS users.
Having the flexibility to have an unchanged batch program access an
on-line file in the manner that the new connector support operates would
provide an ideal enhancement and flexibility.
The significant overhead demanded by VSAM Shareoption(4) processing
could be minimized.
Solution: (Optional)(Desired/undesired elements Note: Making a suggestion may limit a vendors
ability to deliver a solution)
Impact: (Optional) (How
will your company’s business be affected if a solution is not delivered?)
