WAVV Requirement Form

Date: 3/11/2002                                            Requirement #:  WAVV200233

Product Name:           Mailstream Plus    Product Release#: 6.3

Vendor Name:           Group 1 Software

Title: (Paraphrase problem in a single statement)Above the line version does not work

Detailed Problem Description: (Description of what you want changed - 400 character entry limit)

For more than two years, Group 1 has been distributing what they call an above the line version of Mailstream Plus for VSE, which is supposed to support 31 bit addressing. My company has never been able to get it to work on a VSE system that has partitions with sufficient 31 bit storage that the Mailstream Plus program phases reside in and access 31-bit storage.

Priority: (Select one: Urgent - High - Medium - Low) Urgent

Requested Completion Date: (When? Examples: 3 months, 1 year, Next Release) Next Release

Requirement Type: (Select one: Acceptability - Compatibility/Migration - Ease of Use - Feature/Function - Performance - Reliability/Availability/Serviceability - Packaging - Interoperability)

Reliability/Availability/Serviceability

Business Justification: (Why? Non-technical business case description. Do not reword Detailed Problem Description from above. What are the benefits to be gained by your company, and the vendor and others?  Quantify: run time, dollars, manpower, etc.   Why should the vendor do this for the customer?)

The benefits to my company will be avoiding all of the related costs of a migration to OS/390.  For Group 1, they will have an above the line version of Mailstream Plus for VSE that actually works.  For other Group-1 VSE customers, they will not have to discover this problem in Mailstream Plus.

Solution: (Optional)(Desired/undesired elements Note: Making a suggestion may limit a vendors ability to deliver a solution)

Modify the Mailstream Plus phases that have requirements to use only 24 bit addresses to do I/O, etc. , to ensure that they are using 24 bit addresses.

Impact: (Optional) (How will your company’s business be affected if a solution is not delivered?)

My company will be forced into a migration to OS/390 or to add an aditional VSE LPAR specifically for running Code-1 Plus to provide 24 bit virtual storage constraint relief in our three existing VSE batch LPARs.
