Feature/Function

Business Justification: (Why? Non-technical business case description. Do not reword Detailed Problem Description from above. What are the benefits to be gained by your company, and the vendor and others?  Quantify: run time, dollars, manpower, etc.   Why should the vendor do this for the customer?)

For my company, avoid the labor cost of having to do massive JCL changes and creation of new EPIC dataset names in order to do a tape to disk migration to improve batch processing performance.  For BIM, make BIM-EPIC functionally consistent with its documented support for tape and disk device independence.

Solution: (Optional)(Desired/undesired elements Note: Making a suggestion may limit a vendors ability to deliver a solution)

Modify BIM-EPIC to allow EPIC datasets that have versions that were created as tape subdatasets to also have versions that reside on disk.

Impact: (Optional) (How will your company’s business be affected if a solution is not delivered?)

Increased labor cost for a tape to disk migration to improve batch performance.
