LUB's (Logical Unit Blocks)
Detailed
Problem Description: (Description of what you want changed - 400 character entry limit)
In VSE/ESA systems with 240+
disk volumes allocated to EPIC, jobs intermittently cancel with message EP010
or EPM25 due to EPIC not unassigning programmer LUBS it has assigned to disk.

Justification: (Why? Non-technical
business case description. Do not reword Detailed Problem
Description from above. What are the benefits to be gained by your
company, and the vendor and others?
Quantify: run time, dollars, manpower, etc. Why should the vendor do this for the customer?)
For my company, avoid the cost of an OS/390
migration. For BIM, make BIM-EPIC
compatible with VSE/ESA's support for up to 1024 devices.
Solution: (Optional)(Desired/undesired elements Note: Making a suggestion may limit a
vendors ability to deliver a solution)
Modify BIM-EPIC to keep track of LUB's that it
allocates and unassign those LUB's when there are no longer any open EPIC files
using them.
Impact: (Optional) (How
will your company’s business be affected if a solution is not delivered?)
Stop our migration from using primarily 3480 tape
to using disk for batch processing, or, a multi-million dollar migration to
OS/390.
