Product Name: TCP/IP
for VSE (E-Mail Client) Product Release#: 1.4.1B
Title: (Paraphrase problem in a
single statement)Allow E-Mail Client to use
Local DLBLs
Detailed
Problem Description: (Description of what you want changed - 400 character entry limit)
To send an attached SAM file
using E-Mail Client you must pre-define the file in the TCP/IP partition. This
restricts widespread usage. I propose
that the E-Mail Client be changed to work the same as FTPBATCH, which can use
local DLBLs. This enables simultaneous
use of partition independent workfiles & allows many users to run
concurrent jobs without creating unique DLBLs.

Justification: (Why? Non-technical
business case description. Do not reword Detailed Problem
Description from above. What are the benefits to be gained by your
company, and the vendor and others?
Quantify: run time, dollars, manpower, etc. Why should the vendor do this for the customer?)
Reduced JCL customization and systems
programming requirements. Promote use
of product and ease time restraints.
Ability to run simultaneous jobs that extract and send data via e-mail,
improving IT customer support.
Solution: (Optional)(Desired/undesired elements Note: Making a suggestion may limit a
vendors ability to deliver a solution)
Allow use of DLBLs in batch E-Mail client.
Impact: (Optional) (How
will your company’s business be affected if a solution is not delivered?)
A unique file must be pre-defined for every job
doing batch e-mail or jobs must be run single threaded. This is a labor intensive process that
requires careful administration by operations.
Today we run the risk of writing over the sam file and sending the
incorrect data to a customer.
