Unlike LISTDIR, the Libr command DELETE offers few functional parameters.

We wish to request a generic functionality for DELETE (similar to COPY) which

can be used in conjunction with a date range (similar to LISTDIR).  Example:

DELETE  MATCH*.PHASE  DATE='1999/01/01:1999/12/31'   (delete all phases beginning with MATCH cataloged/updated in 1999.

How do you to justify the needed change?  Wwill itrequest benefit the submitter’s your company, and the vendor and others? Business case and benefits to users and vendor which can to justify the needed change?.  Quantify: run time, dollars, manpower, etc. Also, wWhy should is it important for vendor to want to do this for their customer?s)

Enormous reduction in time required to do library maintenance.  We have

specialized application packages that catalog tens of thousands of members to our

libraries each year.  These members have a short but critical life span.  Deleting them

requires a time consuming amount of manipulation of LISTDIR output.  Programmer time would fall from hours to minutes (2 orders of magnitude reduction).

Date :       (When?  ASAP, 6 months, one year from now, etc)
