them.

You could resolve dynamic references to files
at runtime saving effort required to maintain test and production versions of
control cards or processing VSAM objects with generated names.

Just spend more time dealing with file name
issues.

Merely permit
valid VSE symbollic parameters to be substituted into IDCAMS control
cards. I guess mostly it would be for
file name substitution but it could be for anything. An example:
